The Parking Lot
To start our day, go to this parking lot by clicking on the picture.
Do you recognize it?
Our route travels from the truck in the corner to the doors of the building. I found out this distance was 0.0272 miles.
We want to minimize this distance, but we cannot walk in a straight line.
Why can we not walk in a straight line?
These are called constraints!
We can pass in between cars, as long as the line does not touch the cars
See if you can find a route that is as minimal a distance as possible. To do so:
1. Select “Undo Last Point”
2. Change Draw route: to manually (straight lines)
3. Make your path by double clicking where you want the next
4. End with your marker at the doors
Find a route trying to minimize your distance. Record the distance.
